Se state cercando la commediola rosa su cui versare qualche lacrimuccia o non amate la danza: lasciate perdere, Step Up Revolution e questo articolo non fanno proprio per voi. Sono passati 2 anni dall’uscita dell’ultimo capitolo della saga (Step Up 3D), ma la costante diminuzione di contenuti cinematografici a favore di più lunghe scene di ballo continua. E per fortuna direi!
I protagonisti di Revolution sono i Mob, crew di ballerini capitanati da Sean (Ryan Guzman) ed Eddie (Misha Gabriel), che attraverso una serie di flashmob stanno cercando di vincere un premio messo in palio da YouTube per far conoscere il proprio gruppo in tutti gli Stati Uniti. Si trovano però a dover combattere al contempo contro Mr. Anderson (Peter Gallagher), magnate che arriva da fuori città per abbatterne il quartiere. Il caso vuole che la figlia Emily (Kathryn McCormick) sia una ballerina in cerca di ispirazione, e si ritrovi ad avere a che fare proprio con la crew, infatuandosi proprio di Sean.
Insomma, la solita storia trita e ritrita. Combatti per la tua gente, infrangi le regole e nel frattempo innamorati.
Per fortuna le scene di questo genere non sono tantissime, e sembrano servire solamente a riempire i buchi lasciati tra una coreografia e l’altra.
Da questo punto di vista però il risultato è eccezionale, dai singoli passi, agli effetti scenografici, all’ideazione stessa. Il 3D è inoltre notevolmente migliorato rispetto al precedente, risultando più fluido e meno fastidioso per chi come me deve utilizzare anche occhiali o lenti a contatto.
Menzione d’onore anche per i brani scelti, che si staccano un po’ dagli altri Step Up per puntare di più sull’elettronica, soprattutto sulla dubstep (Skrillex-mania?)
La punta di diamante però è lui: Ryan Guzman. Da solo vale il prezzo dell’intero biglietto (anche se risulta a volte ridicolo, se si nota il numero di occasione durante il film in cui si sfila la maglia). Ex modello di Calvin Klein e Armani, attuale fidanzato della starlette Disney Ashley Tinsdale, sembra essere il candidato più accreditato per la parte di Christian Grey nella trasposizione cinematografica di 50 sfumature di Grigio.
Il libro non sono riuscita a finirlo, ma per lui un eccezione la farei di sicuro.
